I have been reading Priscilla Shirer’s book “Fervent”. It is about praying prayers that are specific, strategic, and intentional. This morning the words jumped off the page. Ms. Shirer states; “Prayer is not about manufacturing a better feeling or jostling up a better mood. It’s simply about holding out your open hands – in thanksgiving first, in gratitude for God’s faithfulness and His goodness and His assured accomplished victory over the enemy. Then asking for what He already wants to give you. Then waiting, expecting to receive the promise of newness and freshness from His Spirit as you go.” This blog is entitled ‘As You Go’ and that caught my attention! My goal is to write about the many ways God shows up in my life as I go,

I re-read the passage. I understood the meaning and intent of each of those words.  I considered each word as it related not only to the other words around it but as the words related TO ME. For several months now I have had this longing for something in my spiritual being I couldn’t quite put my finger on, a dullness and lack of enthusiasm has invaded my soul. Maybe the stresses we have been going through are partly to blame. Maybe I’ve over committed or maybe we all experience times when we are not on top of our spiritual game. Maybe it’s just part of being a human. More about this later…..

Ms. Shirer used this scripture to make her point.

He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land.
Hosea 6:3 HCSB

A funny thing happened. It RAINED. It came a good west Texas thunderstorm! I stood on my porch watching the rain fall while I begged God to refresh my spirit and renew my enthusiasm!

Back to why we sometimes find ourselves in low places….. Maybe in part it’s so we can see God do something for us at the exact time and place when we need it.
