If it’s Monday it must be Sew Monday! This is Sew Monday installment #16 in our Treasured Hearts series. There is a lot going on in this block! Ribbon, lace, embroidery, beads, buttons and even a charm. The velvet ribbon is held in place with pistol stitch. Little white buttons sit atop the velvet ribbon. A snippet of lace is held in place by the ribbon and its embroidery. At the very bottom of the heart is a charm shaped like a basket full of eggs. Embroidery flourishes finish the top of the heart. Open twisted chain holds the heart in place against the chocolate brown background.
To me this block represents the look of a true crazy quilt; every surface is covered with lace, ribbons, embroidery or all of the above. With crazy quilting more is always better. I have discovered in my personal life that more is not always better. Sometimes it is important to step back relax, take a break and reevaluate. We all need time to restore and rejuvenate our physical bodies as well as our souls.
