Sew Monday #7

It’s Monday, so it must be Sew Monday! Block #7 in my Treasured Hearts quilt is another cross. I am a collector of crosses. It all started with a simple handmade cross I bought a number of years ago while traveling in another country. That one cross started what is now a wall of crosses as well as stand-alone crosses that adorn end tables and such in my living room.  Many have been gifts, in fact I received a small cross as a gift today from a dear friend!

So, you see it’s just natural for me to also design and stitch crosses! This block features a bold cross embellished with pastel green silk ribbon embroidery. The cross is in the center of the heart. The heart is surrounded with delicate Pekinese Stitch using a variegated pastel pearl cotton thread. Pekinese stitch is one of my favorites! It looks intricate and hard but it’s a simple stitch that delivers a punch. The block is finished with beads and a prayer!  Like this bold cross I pray for a boldness to allow my faith to shine!

“…. that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel….”
Ephesians 6:19 ESV
