Sitting with needle and thread in hand provides me with hours of pleasure and moments of quiet reflection. The gentle rhythm of the needle passing through fabric brings comfort and allows my mind to free itself from the burdens of the day. My handiwork becomes a prayerful actuality of devotion as I allow God in.
… I will boast only about the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ

I am excited to share a new feature of our blog “Sew Monday” where I will be sharing some of my favorite quilts as well as quilting projects in progress! “Treasured Hearts” combines my love for applique and hand embroidery. Using a heart theme and choosing a subtle color scheme I think it showcases the beaded and embroidered blocks well.
Block #1 features a simple cross appliqued in the center of a heart. Stitched with pastel shades of purple and green. The heart background is heavily beaded with sequins and pearlescent beads that shimmer and reflect light. The cross is simple with minimal embroidery embellishments.
I chose to include crosses in this quilt as a testimony of my faith and the great hope I have in Christ Jesus. This cross with its simplicity reminds me that simple childlike faith is all it takes to enter the kingdom of heaven and receive eternal life. The simple truth is God loves us and has provided a way for us to experience relationship with Him!
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
